Getting started

  1. 1

    Start with your email

    • Open SayGday sign-in, enter your email and select “Email me a code”. New here? This starts your account. Already have a workspace? Use the email it was set up with.
    • Keep the sign-in page open. Copy the newest code from your email and enter it on the page. There is no password to create.
    • On your first visit, add your website address to begin. Returning customers can pick up their saved setup or open their business dashboard.
Free to build and test. Your private preview does not need a payment card, and creating an account does not start a paid subscription. Preview usage is limited.
  2. 2

Check the answers and try it privately

    • SayGday reads your website’s public pages and drafts questions and answers from what it finds: opening hours, location, prices, services and the things customers ask. A site with fewer useful facts produces fewer drafts.
    • Correct anything that needs attention and add missing details. Approve the information your assistant can use with customers.
    • Try your answers in the private preview. You can also choose three question shortcuts and one optional special offer for visitors to tap.
Only approve information you intend to share with customers. Keep your hours, answers and offers current.
  3. 3

    Confirm you manage the website

    • Your domain is your website’s address. Open its DNS settings with the company that manages it. In SayGday’s Setup guide, copy the TXT record shown for your website. For most websites the Host is @, meaning the domain itself, the same as Google’s domain verification.
    • Add a new TXT record without changing your existing website or email records. If your provider won’t accept @, leave the Host empty, or use the alternative name shown in SayGday.
    • Save the record and return to SayGday. It watches for the record by itself while the setup page is open, or press “Check now”. New records usually appear within minutes but can take a few hours. Your website person can help with this step.
This check proves you can manage the domain. It does not install the assistant or start billing. Keep existing DNS records in place.
  4. 4

Review your plan before going live

    • Once your website is verified and you have approved answers, review the activation options in Setup guide.
    • Check the price, usage limits and billing terms before confirming. If payment is not available yet, your setup stays saved and no payment is taken.
    • New businesses get their first 14 days on their website free, counted from the day the chat button first appears on their website, with no card and no automatic charge. Nothing starts a paid subscription until you choose one.
  5. 5

Add the assistant to your website

    • After activation, follow the installation instructions in your dashboard. The chat code displays the assistant on your website; it is separate from the DNS record used to verify it.
    • Publish the website change. SayGday watches for the code on your home page while the setup page is open, or press “Check now”. Finding the code does not prove that a visitor has received a reply.
    • Open your published site on your phone. Try an approved question, a question the assistant cannot answer and an enquiry. Check that the conversation and enquiry reach the correct workspace.
    • You choose your assistant’s name and its look, in Settings → Business details or when you first meet it during setup: the plain chat bubble, or one of the SayGday characters on the chat button and in the chat’s header. Its greeting follows the name. The colour is managed by SayGday, so the chat stays consistent.

Share the installation instructions with your website person if you need help. Never share your sign-in code or password.

Adding the assistant to your website

First confirm you manage the domain. After activation, use the separate chat code from your dashboard. These are the usual places to start; settings and available options vary.

  • Shopify, WordPress or a custom website — Use the installation instructions for your website type, or ask your website manager to add the chat script. Back up your theme before editing its files.
  • Wix, Squarespace or Webflow — Look for custom code or code injection in your site settings. Access depends on your plan and permissions. Publish changes before checking them.
  • HTML, React, GitHub or Netlify — Choose the code-managed website option in Setup guide. After activation, your developer adds the script once in the shared public layout and deploys the change. DNS verification is a separate step with your domain provider.
  • Google Tag Manager — Add a Custom HTML tag holding the whole chatbot code, published on all pages. Our home-page check cannot see a tag manager’s install; the bubble loading on your site is the signal it reads, so open your website once, then check again.
  • A website managed by someone else or an AI agent — Copy the tailored brief from Setup guide and give it to whoever manages your website. It contains your current step and the exact values to use. You stay signed in to SayGday and run the checks.

Let your website person or AI agent help

Open Setup guide and copy the tailored installation brief. Share it with your web designer or the agent that edits your website.

  1. The brief explains your current step and the website you are setting up.
  2. Your helper adds the exact DNS TXT record. You return to SayGday to check it.
  3. After activation, copy a fresh brief with the chat code and have your helper publish it.
  4. Run the installation check and try the assistant on your live website.
Copying a brief does not send it or connect anyone to your account. Keep passwords and sign-in codes to yourself. Your helper uses their existing website access.

A few useful answers

Will it work on my website?

Yes. All your website needs is a small piece of chat code. SayGday works with all major website platforms, including WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow and custom-coded websites.

Setup is usually quick, and we’ll guide you through it. You’ll also need access to your domain settings so we can confirm that you own or manage the website.

Not sure about your setup? Contact us and we’ll check it for you.

My sign-in code has not arrived or does not work

Check the email address on the sign-in screen, then check your inbox, Spam or Junk folder. For an existing workspace, use the email it was set up with.

Use the newest code. An older code may stop working after another is requested. You can paste the whole code into the field.

Use the resend option when it becomes available, or change the email address if it is wrong. Request a new code if yours has expired.

Still stuck? Email hello@saygday.ai with your account email and what happened. Never send your sign-in code.

I signed in but cannot see the business we prepared

Use the exact email supplied for the customer handover. A different email creates a separate account.

If you manage more than one business, use the business selector in your workspace.

A handover link can expire. Contact us to check or renew it instead of creating the business again.

My website import found little or no information

Some websites load their content after the page opens, which the importer may not be able to read.

You may get only a few drafts if there is not enough useful information. You can add your own business answers to continue.

Start with opening hours, location, services and the questions customers ask most. Check each answer before approving it.

Why hasn’t website verification worked?

Copy the TXT Host and Value exactly. Use @ (or an empty Host) for the domain itself. New records usually appear within minutes but can take a few hours.

Check that you edited DNS with the company currently managing it. That may be different from the company you bought the domain from.

Save the exact website address customers visit, including www. For a website on its own subdomain, such as shop.example.com, use the full record name shown in SayGday.

Keep the record in place after verification. Changing the website address means you will need the new proof shown in your dashboard.

For help, email hello@saygday.ai with your website address. Do not send login codes or passwords.

Why can’t I pay or copy the chat code yet?

Your website must be verified and your business information approved. The installation code becomes available with an active plan or eligible pilot.

You can use the limited private preview before activation.

If payment is marked coming soon, your setup is saved. You have not been charged and do not need to start again.

I installed the code but cannot see the assistant

Open your website at its live address, the one you verified; its www. form counts too. The assistant opens only there: on a staging address, in your website builder’s editor or preview, or on a developer’s computer, the bubble is withheld.

Copy the full code without changes, publish your website and refresh the page. If the bubble still doesn’t show, open the browser console: a line beginning “SayGday widget:” names the problem.

Speed and security tools can hold the code back: Cloudflare’s Rocket Loader (add data-cfasync="false" to the script tag), a plugin that delays JavaScript (exclude saygday.ai/widget.js), a cookie banner that blocks scripts until consent, or a strict Content Security Policy (allow https://saygday.ai in script-src, frame-src, connect-src and img-src).

Your plan or pilot must be active, and your website must be served over https.

How do I update an answer, my hours or a special offer?

Sign in at SayGday.ai and use your dashboard to update your business answers, question shortcuts and optional special offer.

Try changed answers in your private preview before using them with customers. Your assistant’s name and look are yours to change in Settings, and its greeting follows the name. The colour is managed by SayGday.

What happens when the assistant cannot answer?

It is designed to answer from the information you approve and direct visitors to your team when it cannot help.

Unanswered questions stay in your dashboard. Visitors can choose to leave contact details through the enquiry form for a personal response. A saved enquiry does not mean an email notification was sent.

AI can make mistakes, so test important answers. Enquiries are not confirmed bookings or personalised quotes.

Are customer conversations stored?

Website chats send messages to the service and save conversations for the business to review. An enabled AI provider may process questions and relevant context.

Read our Privacy policy for details about providers, storage and access or deletion requests. Do not enter passwords, payment card details or sensitive personal information in chats.

Is SayGday just a chatbot?

No. It sits between an FAQ page and a chatbot: customers can ask in their own words, but it only answers from your website and the answers you approve. It captures enquiries and keeps conversations in your dashboard so you can see what customers asked and step in with the context already there.

We’re building toward phone, SMS, social messaging, automatic bookings and connected business tools so more customer conversations and actions can live together in SayGday.

How do I get help with billing or cancellation?

Check your plan details and any available billing controls in your dashboard. Your agreed plan terms apply.

For billing, cancellation or refund questions, email hello@saygday.ai from your account email address.

Already using our original FAQ widget?

This section is for businesses we previously set up on the original FAQ service. New customers should use the steps above.

Your existing service keeps working as it is. Its script looks like <script src="https://saygday.ai/faq.js?client=yourbusiness"></script>. Keep the client value supplied to you; this example is not a new installation code.

That widget matches answers in the visitor’s browser, rather than sending its conversations to the current dashboard. The original FAQ privacy section explains its storage.

If it is missing, check that the original script is still on your published site. For changes to answers or help with your existing plan, use the original dashboard or email us.

Still stuck? Email hello@saygday.ai with your website address and a description of what you need help with.
